A Searching Heart

I've been asking questions lately, about God and His heart towards women.  Hebrews 13: 8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."  Because I choose to believe that is true, how do these next verses line up?  How are they both inspired by a God that is the same always?  I'm not saying they aren't, I'm asking how.

Luke 7: 37 "When a women who had lived a sinful life heard that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears.  Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.  When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of women she- that she is a sinner."

1 Timothy 2: 11-12 "A woman must learn in quietness and full submission.  I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man; she must be silent." (Emphasis added.)

In the passage from Luke, the women was expressing, in a sense speaking, her love of Jesus by washing his feet with her expensive oil.  While the Pharisee in the room was shocked that a holy man would let "a woman who had lived a sinful life" touch him, Jesus accepted the proclamation of adoration and I believe, was blessed by it.  So why, in Timothy, does it say twice that women are supposed to be silent?

When I talked to my older brother about this he gave me very simple advice.  He told me to look at my life and look at my choices.  When he questions, when he doubts, he evaluates his life to see the choices that fall under God's will and those that don't.  Every time he is reminded that when he follows the rules that God has set for his life, he is profoundly blessed and strengthened.  Even when everything doesn't make sense, we still are called to obey Christ because that is what is best for us.

I got up early yesterday and today to sit out on the picnic table and read my Bible and What's so Amazing About Grace?  Who am I to question a god who I've put no effort into these past months?  So now I'm reading, searching, asking and doing my best to trust the Lord even though the answers haven't come yet.
