The Blue Castle

A very oppressed 29 year-old girl goes through teenage rebellion. Sound interesting? It is.

Valancy Stirling has been pushed 'round and pulled 'round all her life. Her family is selfish, boring and prissy. A trip to the doctors office and some startling news is all it takes for Valancy's inner wit and independent nature to reveal itself. L. M. Montgomery unfolds a wonderful story of mystery, humor and romance in The Blue Castle. This novel is absolutely worth your time and endurance for the perhaps dull first few chapters.

"If it had not rained on a certain May morning Valancy Stirling's whole life would have been entirely different. She would have gone, with the rest of her clan, to Aunt Wellington's engagement picnic and Dr. Trent would have gone to Montreal. But it did rain and you shall hear what happened to her because of it." Intriguing, aye?

  3. I've never read this, but I LOVED all the Anne of Green Gables books when I was younger.
