After the Dancing Days

I recently read After the Dancing Days by Margaret Rostowski for school, and soon realized just how amazing school books can really be ;-) It is post World War I and is about a thirteen year-old girl, Annie. While picking her father up at the train station, she sees some badly wounded men and it affects her greatly. Annie later goes to St. Johns hospital with her father (he's a doctor) and her grandfather to read out loud to a blind neighbor. There she meets Andrew, a young man of about 22. Andrew was exposed to mustard gas and is very bitter about it. Annie actually sucseeds in opening him up some and they become friends.

It's a very good book and I recommend it to everyone!!!!
